"To protect and promote the positive spirit of angling throughout the Owen O'Garney River system"

Sixmilebridge is a small town off the beaten tourist path in Co. Clare, Ireland. It is located about 4 miles east of Shannon and is at the southern tip of the famous East Clare Lakeland's. Through the town flows the Owen O'Garney river. It is this river system that supplies the water to over 30 lakes in East Clare, the largest of which being Doon and Cullaun lakes. It also supplies the household water to water to most of southeast Clare through the Castle lake reservoir.

The river system is abundant with all types of fresh water fish ranging from the paltry minnow to the hungry pike, and of course the king of freshwater fish, the Atlantic salmon. Sixmilebridge Angling club voluntarily maintain these waters to the best of our ability to ensure the angling experience for all anglers is good as we can get it. We have undertaken a number of projects in recent years including an ambitious salmon-restocking program, various measures to tackle pollution and have also tackled a number of access issues to our lakes and rivers.

Our sport is always under threat from every angle, including pollution, poachers, drift neuters ands nature herself with the arrival of the zebra mussel to our waters. The club will endeavor to battle against these adversities to try and ensure that the positive sprit of angling remains alive in South East Clare for many generations to come

We hope you enjoy our site, your ongoing support and understanding for our plight is welcome.

Best Regards,

Adrian Hogan - Chairman, Sixmilebridge Angling Club
